Neurologists specialize in the branch of medicine that focuses on the nervous system. The nervous system is made up of two parts: the central nervous system which includes the brain and spinal cord and the peripheral nervous system which consists of all nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord. Your brain and spinal cord serve as the main “processing center” and control all functions of the human body.
A neurologist may often employ the expertise of other specialists such as psychologists, neurosurgeons or rehabilitation therapists to effectively manage a patient’s treatment.
