VERO BEACH, Fla. (February 1, 2018) — As of February 1, Indian River Medical Center’s Emergency Department will be managed and staffed by Envision, a national company that currently operates 55 Florida hospital emergency rooms. According to Dr. Charles Mackett, President of Indian River Medical Associates (IRMA), as the largest physician practice management company in the country, Envision will bring strong physician management services to the hospital’s emergency room.
While the majority of the current Emergency Department physicians will continue to be part of the team, Envision will provide an Interim Medical Director immediately and provide strong clinical leadership and necessary medical staff moving forward. The decision to shift from the employed physician model to a contract with Envision was endorsed by the Patient Care Committee of the IRMC Board of Directors.
“Given the transition we are going through with partnering with a health care system, it has been very difficult to recruit and fill the Emergency Department Medical Director position,” Mackett said. “Patient safety is the highest priority and Envision has the depth of staffing we need to ensure that we continue to provide great emergency care for our community.”
