Interventional Neurology

Indian River Medical Center’s neuro-interventionalist team provides advanced treatment for ischemic strokes using a procedure known as mechanical thrombectomy, a technique that has revolutionized stroke care in the United States. Each patient’s recovery is individualized, but research clearly shows the procedure has positive results for one of every three patients if treated within 24 hours. NEUROLOGICAL AND SPINE SURGERY

The Neurosurgery department offers exceptional care for a variety of diseases and conditions affecting the nervous system, including the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves. Our program is known for our surgical expertise and great relationships with referring physicians. More importantly, among patients we’re known for offering state-of-the-art care that is thorough, warm and compassionate.

Neurosurgeons treat disorders of the nervous system, primarily brain and spinal cord, in which surgery is more effective than medical therapy. This would include certain cases of ruptured disc, herniated disc or arthritic spurs that compress the spinal cord or peripheral nerve roots, brain tumors, spinal cord tumors, and other types of conditions where surgery is the primary treatment of choice from minimally invasive procedures to traditional open surgeries.
