Indian River Medical Center’s neuro-interventionalist team provides advanced treatment for ischemic strokes using a procedure known as mechanical thrombectomy, a technique that has revolutionized stroke care in the United States. Each patient’s recovery is individualized, but research clearly shows the procedure has positive results for one of every three patients if treated within 24 hours. Indian River Medical Center’s nationally acclaimed orthopedic program performs total hip, knee and shoulder surgeries using the latest techniques.
All orthopedic surgical patients recover and rehabilitate in the Orthopedic Unit located on the hospital’s 5th floor.
This recently renovated unit houses 23 private rooms specifically created to meet the needs of orthopedic patients. The large rooms provide easy access for patients using walkers and wheelchairs.
The Orthopedic Unit is a ‘clean floor,’ which means that no patients with infections are permitted in this unit. This important factor prevents the spread of infection and critically assists wound healing.
The Orthopedic Surgery Center is conveniently located in the Patient Pavilion. The entrance is adjacent to the Emergency Department on the west side of the hospital.
